Consent, Safety & Session Guidelines

Shibari involves trust, communication, vulnerability, physical awareness, and emotional presence. Everyone involved agrees to approach sessions with respect, honesty, attentiveness, and clear intentions.

Consent is ongoing and may be withdrawn at any time. Anyone involved is welcome to pause, adjust, or stop a session for any reason and at any point without pressure, guilt, or expectation.

Participating in a rope session carries no sexual expectation or implication.

While safety is prioritized at all times, rope bondage and suspension carry inherent physical and emotional risks, including but not limited to nerve compression, circulation restriction, bruising, abrasions, dizziness, falls, panic responses, emotional intensity, and other unforeseen physical or psychological reactions. No activity can ever be considered entirely risk-free.

By choosing to participate, models acknowledge and voluntarily accept these inherent risks and understand that participation occurs at their own discretion and responsibility.

Models agree to communicate openly and honestly regarding any relevant injuries, medical conditions, chronic pain, disabilities, recent surgeries, medications, mobility limitations, mental health concerns, trauma triggers, or other factors that may affect physical or emotional safety during a session.

Models also agree to immediately communicate numbness, tingling, sharp pain, dizziness, emotional distress, difficulty breathing, discomfort, or any concern that arises during the session.

Sessions are collaborative and negotiated in advance rather than approached completely spontaneously. Before arriving, models should have a general idea of what they hope to explore — suspension, floor work, photography, video, artistic study, performance-oriented imagery, meditative rope, or otherwise.

Certain requests, positions, ties, or suspension ideas may be declined if they are considered unsafe, physically unsuitable, beyond current capacity, or incompatible with the environment or equipment available.

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Styling input is only given when requested, though visually, solid colors generally photograph best while busy patterns and visible brand logos may become distracting in images.

Photos and videos are only captured with consent.

Content is only shared when everyone involved approves the material, including behind-the-scenes images featuring me as well.

Approved visual material may be used for artistic, educational, archival, or promotional purposes by agreed-upon parties, including social media, Patreon, websites, print publications, exhibitions, portfolios, books, and related creative projects.

All published or shared work involving my rope, direction, performance, instruction, photography, or artistic contribution should be properly and visibly credited whenever possible. This includes social media posts, reposts, publications, interviews, exhibitions, videos, and derivative creative works. Respect for artistic attribution and acknowledgment is an important part of maintaining integrity within collaborative creative spaces.

No hidden recording, photography, livestreaming, or audio capture is permitted by any participant under any circumstance.

Models are always welcome to bring a trusted friend or support person if it helps them feel more comfortable. However, please communicate in advance if you plan on bringing a photographer, videographer, assistant, collaborator, or any additional person into the creative space we are cultivating.

Likewise, I will not bring additional people into a session unless discussed and agreed upon beforehand.

A security camera may be present in the studio for safety and security purposes only. Security footage is never used as artistic or promotional content.

Everyone agrees to remain sober during sessions. Light marijuana use is acceptable only if communication, awareness, responsiveness, and safety remain fully intact. Sessions will not continue if impairment is believed to compromise safety, communication, judgment, or consent.

Participants understand that rope marks, bruising, redness, soreness, fatigue, and emotional aftereffects may occur following a session.

Aftercare, decompression, hydration, and communication are encouraged following intense rope experiences, particularly after suspension work.

Respect for privacy, boundaries, professionalism, discretion, and mutual trust is expected from everyone involved.

Harassment, aggressive behavior, coercion, discrimination, repeated boundary pushing, disrespectful conduct, or violation of agreed-upon boundaries will immediately end the session.

Sessions may be rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice whenever possible.

A deposit is required to reserve all dates, even those that are being rescheduled.

Deposits and paid sessions are non-refundable unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.

By participating in a session, everyone involved acknowledges that they have read, understood, and voluntarily agreed to these guidelines and understand the inherent risks associated with consensual rope bondage and suspension practices.
